Getting Creative with Kids: Hand Drawn Coloring Pages
While I was off having a wonderful lunch this afternoon with a good friend and trolling the Goodwill for some colorful knits to cut apart, Mr. Skooks was doing a little artist's give and take with Little Miss. As in, he would give her a picture he drew and she would take it and color it.
I think
she might
be going through
some kind of a red phase.
Do your kids prefer your drawings to coloring books? Little Miss gets a real charge out of dictating what should be drawn and then pouncing on it immediately so she can color it all in. She's always saying, "Next, draw [this]. Now you can draw [that]."
It's not always easy. Sometimes she asks for stuff that's not really in a part of my "draw it on demand" repertoire. One time she asked me to draw a gazelle. Yes, a gazelle.
Here's me: "A gazelle? Are you sure you don't just want Mommy to draw some more hearts and flowers?"
Cuz that's my "level."

I've used this method for keeping my kids quiet in church. I love the red (my favorite color!) Fun to see how you implement this!
It's fun. She has coloring books, but seems to highly favor coloring in Mom and Dad's drawings over using them. :)
I love the drawings and the color!
