Birthday Fabric Bonanza
Due to some gracious gifting by some dear friends and family, I was left with a bit of spending money that I could do with as I please. I ask you, when does that ever happen?
So I dug down deep into the "pining away" part of my brain and allowed myself to indulge in some fabric shopping. Like the kind of abstract "stash-building" that so many people seem to participate in on a regular basis, but I never do.
It's not a strict policy per se, but generally I am not a person who buys fabric with no project in mind. In fact, most of my stash consists of leftover bits from previous projects and fabric that people have given to me because they don't think they're going to use it. Not that I'm complaining about that, mind you, but a large portion of my stash is made up of stuff that I probably wouldn't buy on my own and therefore isn't necessarily my cup of tea.
Anyway, so my only rule for this shopping spree (of sorts) was to buy fabrics that I really LOVE. Some I have designs for, a few may go to make things for my future shop, and some are just there because I love them and want to pet them.
So ok, here she blows.
I finally put my hands on a nice fat quarter collection of Heather Bailey's Pop Garden fabrics. I've been IN LOVE with them since I first laid eyes on them and every time I go out to buy fabric for a project I peek around to see if I can find a few of my favorite prints at my LQS. Sadly, they only have ever seemed to carry a small assortment and never the ones that I have in my mind. Ah well. Bygones.
I worked with Lilly Bella Fabrics on Etsy to put together this custom fat quarter bundle, and I couldn't be more pleased to finally have some in my hot little hands:

Anyone else fabric splurging lately?

OH, oh, oh I literally just scrolled up and down over and over oohing and ahhing. And every designer you picked are ones I love! What a fabulous way to splurge. I am a little envious, I think. I can not wait to see what you do with them!
I know!! If I don't cut into them soon I'm going to start getting all "I love them so much I can never cut into them" and then we'll have problems. LOL.
Absolutely. The quilt shop (sort of) close to my house has fat quarters 5/$10. And you can choose any fabric they have in the store and ask for a fat quarter. You know i NEEDED 15 Kaffe fat quarters! Did I mention yet the lakehouse 16- fat quarter bundle? NO? How about he Henry glass masquerade birds in red? A couple yards please..and while you're at it, 3 yards of the Princess Mirah batik and oh! this red rooster stuff matches a quilt I'll finish someday so throw in 2 yards of that, too! that was this week. I'm totally serious. it was scary. and the week's not over yet.
Ok, that little frog makes me SO happy.
I went to get some 100% cotton batting at my LQS(thanks to Mothers Day $$) and walked away with fabric I seriously don't know why I bought, other than I loved them. I picked up a very pretty Michael Miller "Sakura Blossoms" that looked brand new(as in the bolt was full). I had never seen it, but the lady stated it came in Nov 2010 and I appear to be the first to purchase some. Pretty pink cherry blossoms on a medium gray background. More Springtime in Paris. Not sure the current love for pink of late. Always been a blue, purple, yellow and orange person. Funny part. I completely forgot the batting!!!!
I made sure it all fit into my sewing cabinet;-)
blessings, jilly
