Sew Up Some Christmas Cheer

Don't yell at me.  I know it's not Halloween yet, and here I am talking about Christmas.  I realized a long time ago though, that if you plan on actually making anything you plan on using/giving/displaying in time for Christmas . . . the earlier you start, the better.

So I've been doing a few things towards that end.

The biggest holiday project I have on my list this year: a Jesse Tree.  Sadly, this has been on my list for the last few years, but this year . . . OH YES . . . this year I will make it happen.  I found a pattern for felt Jesse Tree ornaments on Etsy after doing some searching.  I'm very excited about this because I have direction, and I'm starting to make again which is a big deal for me right now.  I may tweak here and there along the way, but I have a starting point . . . hurray!

The other big item on ye ole Christmas to do list (oh yes, besides finally getting around to quilting and binding my Glow Happy quilt and seeing if we can get some magi in on the felt nativity party) is ORNAMENTS!  For those of you who have been with me awhile, you may recall that I make each of my kids a special ornament each year.  My mom did this for my sisters and I when we were kids, and when we left home we had a whole bag full of mama-made cheer to dress up our own Christmas trees.  I love carrying on this tradition with my own kids!

Which means . . .

I have been sniffing around Etsy for some ideas/inspiration/patterns.  It's what I do.  I thought I'd collect em all together and do something I haven't done in quite some time . . . make a treasury.  Take a gander at some of my finds.  That is, if the thought of Christmas crafting in October doesn't turn your stomach.  ;)

**For more info and backstory on what this Jesse Tree business is all about, there's a great post explaining all about it on Rocks in My Dryer.**

Even though the thought of Christmas makes me itch a little at the moment, I can still adore the cute pattern you picked out. Fun!

And I do like plural sos.

I do hate you for saying this out loud, but I also know you're right. I am seriously considering buying everyone a BOOK this christmas. Yeesh.

But I probably won't. I'll make something--just gotta wait for the idea to hit about what that's gonna be. Sure.
