Google Reader - - Gone?!

Just like my attic (um . . . and my basement), my Google Reader could use a bit of a cleaning.  I have been a reader of blogs for so many years that my Reader has been filled to RIDICULOUS capacity since forever.

But let's be real.  It's not like I *actually read* everything in there.  To me, using a reader is like having as many free magazine subscriptions as you could ever want.  I have them sorted by type so I can pick and choose what kind of reading I'm in the mood for.  That's great and all, but it's still just too much.

So thank you, Google, for forcing me to have to go through each and every one of them to figure out which are worth saving since there is no way I am going to continue with ALL of them on a new platform.  Wait, what?  Didn't you hear?  Google Reader is GOING AWAY FOREVER.

I'm looking into Bloglovin right now as my new reader of choice, but I may end up going back to Bloglines if it becomes to headache-y to figure out Bloglovin.  Who has been reading long enough to remember when Bloglines said they were going away and then didn't, but I had already migrated over to Google Reader??

1,000,000,000 points to you if you have.  No really . . . you win.  :)

If'n you're in the same predicament as I am, and you're interested in keeping up with my little ole self on Bloglovin, click below.

Follow on Bloglovin

Oh - - and as I did the last time this happened, I was thinking I might give a shout out to my favorite reads for a couple posts.  Because we all have more time in our days to read more blogs, yes?  ;)

I went from Bloglines to GR. Bloglines wasn't working very reliably anyway and it limited the number of unread items where GR didn't. Although I just realized recently that GR only holds unread items for a limited time. Anyway I just found out tonight that Bloglines might be back so I'll be trying it again. My problem is I need something that I can use at work as well as home. Since I can't install software or browser plug-ins at work and anything considered a social networking site is blocked, I'm severly limited.

You might want to try The Old Reader which is a clone of the original GR. The URL is

s - Thanks for the tip! I don't know if they're overwhelmed with new subscriptions now or what, but Bloglines is just not doing anything for me right now. I got on Bloglovin, but I'm not convinced I'm "lovin" it yet. It looks like The Old Reader is running behind with importing so it remains to be seen if this will become the ultimate service I go with. It looks promising though . . . I appreciate you letting me know about it!

I am a little bit devastated about the whole thing. I haven't started looking around for other blog readers, but I figure I have some time. And maybe they won't go away after all!

K - I hear you. So annoying. Although when you consider it's a free service it's hard to be *too* mad.
